Sheesh Kebab from the Sultan's Kitchen cookbook
Great summery day, good opportunity to fire up the Weber and try Siis Kebabi (Imagine little squiggles at the bottom of the esses, and you'll have Sheesh printed in Turkish.
Here is a pic with all the ingredients mixed in a bowl. Only volunteers to get there hands in and mix this up were Pip and Wally, so had to do it myself.
And then the mixture goes on the spits. Easier said than done. Wally, ever the neatnik, is in the background waiting to pick up anything that may fall to the ground.
After cooking for a while, the kebabs are hanging on for dear life. We have several theories as to why they're not adhereing better, so will have to try again next time. Nonetheless about half held together just fine. The other half cooked well, only in bits and bobs.
And so the money shot. You'd think I've never seen a camera before:
Eating it was a blur too. Too good to savor slowly.
Finally, a digestif was certainly appropriate. Since we have no Raki, I hope people aren't upset that I partook in ouzo as an reasonably close alternative.
